We thought we were going to get this baby before Hershey and not a month and a half later. The weather started getting so cold that we really had to tarp and heat lamp everything...so much so that it started looking like a shanty town around here. Night watch is tough enough, but cold night watch is awful. Lesson learned is that our jennets are separated late spring/early fall. Knew that, but didn't do that.
Razzles was born early on a warmish day with plenty of time to dry before a cold night. He has to be one of the most beautiful foals we've had. He is black with no light points, perfect conformation and his brown muzzle makes him look like a little moose. He is very friendly and fairly quiet. He has a fantastic pedigree that includes over 900 traceable ancestors to include the original registered imports. He will be sold registered and make a very nice herd sire.

Hershey was born during a rain storm and he looked like a mud ball the first day. When he finally dried and we brushed the dirt from his coat, we found a beautiful black foal. Hershey has been the smallest foal we've had so far and he will probably remain that way. He has an excellent build and looks just like his sire. Hershey is a lap donkey. He will let you hold him as long as you want and he often falls asleep in our arms.

Hershey has over 900 traceable ancestors to include the original imports. He has excellent conformation and will be sold registered only. He will make an exceptional herd sire.

Our neighbors granddaughter, Kim, enjoys visiting the donkeys and they love it when she brings the animal crackers. Kim is a very sweet girl and and she is featured the above picture with Hershey.

Nestle is our first baby for 2009. He was born just after a tremendous storm had come through the area. His mother didn't want to go into the barn, so when he was born they were both covered in mud. We didn't know his color was so dark and his white markings were so white until we dried him. He is already running to us and following us around the farm. He has excellent conformation and an outstanding pedigree which traces back to the original imports.
